If You Like Regency Romances ...

Regency romances are set in England between 1811 and 1820, when George III was the King and his son, George IV, ruled as Prince Regent ("Prinny") because his father had become insane.

These stories are bright, light-hearted comedies of manners that focus on the English aristocracy (the "ton"), whose world is filled with country manors, London town homes, balls, and dazzling costumes. The novels are often lively, sometimes mysterious, and full of humorous situations and people: fops, blades, dandies, belles, and blue-stockings.

The dashing hero and beautiful heroine of a Regency romance often exchange lively banter in their courting. If you like the witty repartee of classic Katherine Hepburn-Spencer Tracy movies, you will feel right at home with a Regency novel. "Sweet" Regency romances have an innocent tone, while "racy" Regency historicals are more sensual.

These books are all available at the Glendale Public Library.
