Chevy Chase Branch Library
3301 East Chevy Chase Drive
Glendale, CA 91206
Meets 6:00 - 8:00 pm on the first and third Wednesday of every month.
Actively writing poets, novelists, memoirists, short story writers and the like are welcome to share their writing and have it critiqued by members of the group. Cosponsored by the Glendale Public Library.
This is a support group for writers of all levels and genres. With the understanding that all writing is unique and valuable, criticism will be offered as opinion only, the only intention being to help each writer improve the work she or he has submitted.
The purpose of critique is to learn how onešs work is perceived, so that revisions might be made if the author wishes to do so.
Because the group works best with regular attendance, we ask that each member commit herself or himself to one full season of meetings, and come prepared to critique at least one submitted work. We also ask that prospective new members attend at least two meetings before submitting any writing for critique. The reason for this is to give the newcomer an opportunity to get a sense of the group and how it works, to see if they feel comfortable and can commit to coming on a regular basis.
No one will be required to participate at any level of critiquing until she or he is ready, although all members should be actively writing.
